Madame Pompadour

I do just love anything French, most of all the FASHION but not just the beautiful modern fashion the historical too. As a costume designer/maker my superrrrrrr fav century has to be the 18th century with all the ravishing colours and massive dresses. Marie Antoinette is one of the 18th century fashion icons but before here come Madame Pompadour. Madame Pompadour is most famously known for being one of the most suces
sful mistresses of Louis XV. During her time she become one of the most influential and powerful women in France, which she is mostly remembered by her beautiful paintings.

i do not own the image of the painting of madam pompadour but i do own all the othe images of my costume.

One of my favourite paintings of Madam Pompadour has to be the one of her in the green dress which is by Francois Boucher. As you can see by my photos this is my attempted of trying to recreate the lovely gown that she wears in the painting. In theatrical terms I would call it an interpretation but let not get too formal lol

These are a few pictures of me wearing the dress, i totally had to squeeze into it since i didn’t make it for myself but i just couldn’t help myself lol. As i was dressing up for fun i decided that i had to have a nice background so i put a few things together and made this lil display. The back ground is obviously not historically accrete but it does beat my useal white boring back ground which i always use in photoshoots.

The sleeping Pompadour

inspied by the wax work of Du Barry in Madame Tussauds London, which remindes me i so have to make one of Du Barrys dresses. iv read a few books on her and it really is a shame how in most movies she is portryed as a rude evil cow, in the books iv read she seems to be very kind and sweet.

this is a photo of Du Barry in Madame Tussauds London. (this image does not belong to me) what i love about this wax work is that it is the only wax work that looks like its breathing and the most amazing thig is that it is the oldest waxwork in Madame Tussauds London.

This is a link to myt lil shop on esty were i am selling my Madame Pompadour costume
